Ethnic/Safari Trend
The ethnic/safari trend has taken over the runways. This means two of my favorite styles are back in full effect, animal prints and snake! Colored snake has wiggled its way into our wardrobes over the last few years, primarily through accessories. Animal prints have fallen had fallen out of grace, but have, as usual, made their comeback. For more about animal prints, check out my examiner article, Wearing Animal Print This Winter. To see some great print dresses from DVF, including tribal, animal, floral, and abstract, check out Print Dresses for the New Year.

Stylish, Eco-friendly Fashion
The green movement has left its (carbon) footprint on the fashion industry. Ethical and eco-friendly styles have made their way into mainstream fashion. Designers like Stella McCartney, don’t use fur or leather in their lines and use 100% biodegradable shopping bags, tags, and packaging. Some designers are using sustainable fabrics, while others are employing more ethical standards in factory worker employment. Even Anna Wintour, the final word in fashion, recommends recycling fashion.
We discovered an incredible website that offers stylish, sustainable fashion. Check out my newest article on examiner.com, Stylish, Eco-friendly Fashion, to link to this website and discover great green fashion. Being curvy girls, we would never forget our curvy counterparts. For our plus-size readers, check out Mewv Sustainables. They aren't high-tech, but they have great styles and their green!

Holiday Photo Cards
I remember my first family photo after becoming a mom. My hubby and I got our daughter dressed and rushed down to Sears to be on-time for our appointment. After arriving, we sat for twenty minutes. Our baby threw a tantrum. We couldn't feed her for fear her dress would be ruined. We couldn't keep her shoes on her feet. She was in a new environment and didn't feel comfortable. There were screaming kids everywhere. She didn't smile once. We paid $75 for our photos after all the hidden cost. We only received 25, with no retouching and no smiles. It was a disaster!
This year, we will be using Leslie Andrews Photography. Leslie is offering an amazing holiday package. She will conduct a personal photo shoot for you and your family, at the location of your choice. Yes, she will come to you. You will receive 50 retouched photo cards, with the card selection of your choice, for $100.

Little Black Dress
The Little Black Dress is sexy and demure, dramatic and subtle. It can be worn at any occasion and is flattering to all. If you have a LBD you are dying to wear and haven't had the opportunity, we have the event for you. Donovan and Christian present their 2nd Annual Little Black Dress Party November 21st, 9pm to 2am at Yoshi's San Francisco. All ladies wearing their Little Black Dresses receive free entry all night. Click here to RSVP.
Please note: Despite the claims on the site, Chanel did not "create" the Little Black Dress. While it represented everything she stood for and was, no doubt, popularized by her, the little black dress had sprouted in fashion for several years before the Chanel LBD debuted in 1926. It is very doubtful that the design debuted in Vogue was truly the "first" LBD. However, her design did give the idea mass appeal.

Save Minoritees
One of my husband's favorite t-shirt lines is Minoritees. While I don't wear tees very often, I cannot deny I like them too. Not the average screenprinted tee, these witty shirts challenge stereotypes, promote ethnicity, and feature empowering message. It is because of these "in your face" messages that the line isn't carried in major department stores. Yes, the team behind minoritees are doing it themselves, but perhaps, not for much longer.
This New York-based company announced, without increased sales, they will be closing January 2010. Help us save Minoritees! These tees make great Holiday gifts for friends, family, and close co-workers. Most of the shirts are on sale from $12 to $20. Gift certificates make great stocking stuffers. This Christmas, I will be purchasing the Las Vegas sign inspired Always Bet on Black tee for my hubby, the All That and Dim Sum pride tee for his co-worker, the Embrace Every Race for my business partner, and the Its Ok, I Can't Tell Y'All Apart Either Tee for my best friend.
